Pilates & Birth Preparation Class

5 week course of exercise, knowledge, friendship and relaxation

Wednesday eve 6.30-8pm The Retreat  Eastney Community Centre.  Bransbury Park

An introduction to Pilates in Pregnancy is a gentle low impact exercise and is considered one of the best forms of exercise for a pregnant woman. It helps maintain and improve the condition of the abdominal and pelvic floor muscles, it is a safe form of exercise while pregnant and can be hugely beneficial. Many women attend Pilates classes during pregnancy or in post natal recovery. Exercises can be adapted at each stage of pregnancy to allow for a gentle exercise. There will be new topic each week to help guide you through your pregnancy and prepare for birth. Recent research has shown the benefit of pregnant mums starting pelvic floor exercises in the first trimester so as to reduce damage later on .You will learn optimal fetal positioning, positions for labour and birth, signs of labour and lots of useful tips.This is a midwife led class .Please note…You are entitled to time off work to attend ante natal midwife checks, parent education , aqua natal and relaxation classes whilst pregnant. You are welcome to attend any time from 12 weeks onwards

Start in the retreat for a chat re different aspects of labour and birth and then move down to the studio for a lovely pilates class, you will also learn some great breathing for labour and birth and some deep relaxation . £49.50
